Argenton Tennis Club No 1 Court was a "light up" and would have been one of the earliest night tennis venues in the district. L to R:Roy Byrnes, Daniel Harrington (one time LM Shire Councillor), Ted Guest, Ruby Guest, Jack Amos(or Amiss), Mrs Murray, Gene McCarthy, Thelma Roberts, Vic Guest, Jess Halton, Harold Halton (Harold was a brother of Thomas H Halton, long-serving Shire Clerk of LMSC.), Sweeney, Tom Sweeney, Miss Batty, Les Lever, Inez Convery, Ray Byrnes, Ouida Byrnes, Charles Turnbull, Hazel Turnbull (nee Byrnes), Kit McCarthy, Edna McCarthy (nee Murray), Freda McBriarty, Emily Byrnes. Children Joan Guest, Noel Guest, Kev Byrnes. In 1927 there were 2 tennis courts at the end of Princess Street. Mrs Byrne's shop was here. The Byrnes family moved from Queen St up to the top of the hill in Argenton and bought a large tract of land bounded by Thomas, Princess, William and Margaret Sts which parallels the fourth fairway of the Waratah Golf Club. Here Roy Byrnes built a shop and dwelling and formed the Argenton Tennis Club and built two tennis courts. There are 32 people in this photo and 26 of them are related.
