Pokolbin Close was named in 1978. Pokolbin is a prominent wine producing district in the Cessnock area. Pokolbin may be either a native word meaning 'a very hot place', or a Hungarian word meaning 'in the hell'. (Source: Geographical Names Board of NSW).
