Hopkins Street
In early times the Lochend Colliery operated by William Brooks had been at the top of the street. Named in 1917 after Mr Hopkins whose house, an old resident said, was at the intersection with Alley Street, it was believed that Mr Hopkins had been the quarry manager. Hawkins quarry was accessed from Hopkins Street and operated for many years, it was later owned by Boral and now by Daracon but rarely, if ever, used.
