The premise on the corner of South Street and Lake Street Windale, was opened in April, 1956 as a Pharmacy by Frank Attwooll. Frank also rented a house in Netley Street and lived there for quite a number of years before buying his own house around the Lake. During his time as a town resident, Frank was deeply involved in many of the town's projects, problems and sporting bodies. He became a patron of a few of them too. Since the day he arrived, Frank provided an essential and cheerful service, which our town has greatly appreciated. In the 1980-81 shopping redevelopment, the pharmacy was relocated to the much bigger shop in Lake Street, where in April, 1981, Mr Attwooll celebrated his silver jubilee as Windale's one and only pharmacist. Frank's old shop was renovated and became the new butchery of Allan Bennett. Source: Saxby, Max The history of Windale: a surprise township, 1990.
