ARTHUR GEORGE HETHERINGTON 1923-1976 Arthur was born in January, 1923 at North Lambton to Annie Elizabeth and Robert Lewis Hetherington. Arthur attended Lambton school until the family moved to Mount Hutton around 1934. He finished schooling but was unable to get employment owing to the Great Depression. When World War II was declared Arthur enlisted and went overseas with the Engineers Section. He returned to Mount Hutton after the hostilities and began a small poultry farm. After Arthur had married Annie Tarrant he moved into the old Tarrant farmhouse and helped the ageing Jobie (Annie's father) around the farmhouse. Arthur gained employment with the Post Master General's Department, (PMG), now Telecom Australia, as a linesman. Arthur was a keen horseman and was often seen riding his horses around the town and was also a very good motor mechanic. After Annie's death he employed a live-in housekeeper to look after his young children. In 1967 he sold the property and went to live with his children in Greta where he passed away in 1976.
