Lake Macquarie History

Gimberts Road

The Grange Retirement Village is in Gimberts Road.

George Alfred Ernest Gimbert worked at Morisset Hospital as a grounds man for 33 yrs clearing the grounds and landscaping the facilities at the hospital. It is believed that he was the first person to instigate a programe for the residents helping with the landscaping. His wife Eileen Gimbert (nee Symington) ran the dairy farm which supplied milk and butter to the hospital and surrounding area. Well known in local affairs, Gimberts Road was named after them.
