Completed by 1924, the home was built and owned by mine manager Henry Jenkin Thomas who owned a number of coal mines in the Hunter Valley. During World War I, the 9th Brigade of the 2nd AIF requisitioned the property. After the war it was returned to the family. It was inhabited by him and his children until March 1985 when his spinster daughter, Ethel Grace Thomas, died at the age of 73. The historic homestead and large property was then auctioned and sold to a developer, .The home was restored, All of the well established trees in the grounds were removed and used to fill the deep creek bed, and the developer subdivided the grounds at the rear of the property into at least 3 housing blocks.
