Lake Macquarie History

Sherrian Close

Sherrian Close was named in 1971. It was the site of Bert Caldwell’s stables which housed his many race horses. It was sub-divided following his death in 1967. Alfred Benjamin Caldwell was a well known Newcastle entertainer and dance instructor. He was also horse trainer and enthusiastic racegoer, who established a horse stable - Chatter Park - at Dudley in 1949.
