Lake Macquarie History

Main Road

An early road running from West Wallsend to Wallsend, this may have been the old Government survey road called Wallsend Road. It was named Main Road in J.C. Bonarius' 1885 subdivision. It is part of Main Road 527. St Benedict's Primary School is on this road. Amos Ridley owned the dairy farm at Edgeworth (Young Wallsend) on Main Road from the 1920's until 1948 delivering milk to a wide area.
