Metro Court was surveyed by Harper Somers Pty. Ltd and developed in 1993 on the site of the former Metro Drive-In Theatre, now an industrial estate. The Metro Drive-In was built on what was once one of Newcastle's biggest dirt track motorcycle speedway circuits.
