Lake Macquarie History

Lake Road

From the 'Crossroads', it leads to Wallsend or Boolaroo. Lake Road is part of Main Road 217. An early road Lake Road was given its name from Wallsend because of its destination, Lake Macquarie. The Crossroads Ice Works was here supplying a wide area with household ice for many years. The building still remains. There used to be a wine bar and horse drinking trough at the Crossroad intersection, well known early landmarks.
