Lake Macquarie History

Russell Road

Russell Road was possibly named for David and W.J. (Joe) Russell who were landowners in the area in 1887. W.J. Russell was later the local agent for the Morisset Farms Estate subdivision in 1919. There was a Russell family (possibly descendants), who owned the land at the northern end of the road in the 1930s. The Goodhew family had a citrus orchard on property at the northern end of the road in the 1930s and 40s. Russell Road leads to a private road which was once the site of the Salvation Army Recovery Services Establishment "Miracle Haven".
