Lake Macquarie History

Cowmeadow Road

A family named Cowmeadow once lived in the area. Herbert Horatio Cowmeadow (1898-1966), lived in London and emigrated to Freemantle, Western Australia on 25 August 1921, after serving in WW1. He eventually settled on Warners Bay Road, Mt Hutton. His house burnt down at one point after being struck by lightning. He was a poultry farmer while living in the area. Cowmeadow Road was named in 1956.
