Surveyed but unnamed on a 1922 plan, Talbot Road was named in 1925. Talbot Road was possibly named in recognition of long serving Lake Macquarie Shire Councillor John Talbot who served for seven terms with three terms as Shire President. Talbot retired in 1925.
