Lake Macquarie History

Milburn Circuit

Named after an employee of The Sulphide Corporation Ltd, Cockle Creek, Ernest Milburn, who served in World War 1. Gazette Date 10 August 2018 Folio 5191.

This street is part of the Weemala Development, 2018

The word “Weemala” is Aboriginal in its origin and means “Distant Outlook”, Big Lookout”, “Wide view”.

The term also enjoys positive connotations and has historic use in such homes as “Weemala” (previously “Numantia”)– being a historic country retreat in Falconbridge – Western NSW)

Weemala was chosen as the lead name for the development on account of it’s clear meaning associated with land that enjoys a commanding outlook over the surrounding district.

The name particularly appealed to the developers as it tied in well with the vision for Weemala at the Lake in providing a community land with a wonderful wide outlook. Weemala can further be interpreted as looking at the big picture, our vision is a community focussed development, with the big picture covering homes where families live, local support retail, community facilities and public areas. Not just housing but a master planned community in harmony with those who live there.
