    Boarding house taken over run as a house and shop by Mrs Connah, who made and sold pies in the town. Sold ice creams and lollies to the children attending the picture theatre over the road in the Knickerbocker Hall. Pictures were shown twice each week and twice on pay weeks. The shop shared a party line with the doctors Surgery, the Doctor could tell by the rattling of the drink bottles in the fridge if Mrs Connah was listening in to the conversation. Business onsold to Louie and Reg Pearman who ran the shop for many years. Col Russell and Val D'Arcy (sisters bought the shop in 1960 and had it for 4 years. Col Russell stayed in the shop and the business was bought byMr & Mrs bevan who moved it across the road on the site of the former hall which had been dismantled due to white ant infestation.
