    Creator: Tonks, Mr Ed

On 26 September 1988 4711 and 4833 have detached from their train after positioning it beneath the loading bin at Lambton Colliery. The pair will then run around the train and reattach to the other end. Thus 4833 will lead the loaded train out of Lambton and up the grade towards Whitebridge. Lambton’s upcast group of buildings and ventilation fan lie beyond the nose of 4711. Whilst the colliery site has been generally redeveloped for residential purposes much of the 19th century character of the upcast shaft group of buildings still exists. Photo. Ed Tonks.
