Old Maitland Road was renamed Freemans Drive, notified in the N.M.H on the 23 October 1975. This was named after early settlers James and Mary Freeman. Freemans Drive, part of MR 220, becomes the Branxton/Toronto Road in the Cessnock Local Government Area.
