Puntee Street
Puntee is believed to be a variation of spelling of an Awabakal word which L.E. Threlkeld alternatively spelt 'puntei' and 'punte' meaning 'a narrow place'. It is also thought that this may have been the Awabakal name for Threlkeld's estate. In the book "Aborigines of the Hunter Region" (By the Hunter branch of the Dept of Education), this word is spelt poontee meaning 'narrow neck Coal Point'. Puntee Street was developed in 1964 by Manifold Estates Pty Ltd.
