Cheapside Street
Cheapside Street was one of the most important streets in early modern London. The name originated from the word "chepe" which means a market or bargaining place. Cheapside at one time, was the centre of London's wealth, with many mercers, and goldsmiths located there (source: http://mapoflondon.uvic.ca/render accessed 8/6/2010). Cheapside Street was part of Halloran's 1920 subdivision.
