Lake Macquarie History

Quarry Road

Quarry Road named in 1917 leads to and gets its name from the council owned Hardy's Quarry, when operations ceased here the quarry top was made into a Lookout but this was found to be too dangerous and the quarry area was closed off. Old residents said gravel from here was taken during the war to help build Williamtown Air Base.
