Lake Macquarie History

Galgabba Street

Galgabba Street was named in the Village of Swansea proclaimed in 1906. Galgabba was the Awabakal name for Swansea meaning 'a place to rest or a pleasant place to camp' and also 'sand spit' (Source: "Interview with T.D. Boyd of Lake Road Swansea," LMCC library records).
