Lake Macquarie History

Pacific Highway

A part of this early road was subdivided in 1916. The Main Roads Board was constituted in 1925 and work commenced shortly after, the concrete section of the road here was nine inches thick and completed in 1929, though not much is still apparent.

The highway between Gosford and Newcastle was completed in 1930. The Pacific Highway, that is Highway 10, is under the responsibility of the RTA.
