To a lonely dove
Gentle ring dove, all forlorn
Orphan of the wind and storm,
Would that I could find your mate
to end your single, sorry state!
With your mournful coo, coo-coo
Up and down all day you woo,
“Pinky” "Topknot" or "Blue Mountain”
Spreading love as from a fountain.
Ardent lovers such as you
(Surely there can be but few,)
Ought to have your love returned
For your heart must surely burn.
When I hear you in the rain
coo, coo-cooing once again,
I wave my wand and wish the weather
Would bring your mate and you together!
