Henry F. Halloran was influenced by the 'Garden City' movement begun by Ebenezer Howard in England when he designed Fishing Point. Fishing Point, a descriptive name for a point with one of the best views of Lake Macquarie (source- Newcastle Morning Herald, 14 May 1991).
